New course – Can you beat your PR?

A new, more attractive, and flatter course … These were the starting points for our course builders. The result is impressive …

It is never flat in Brussels but compared to the old course on the other side of the city, the number of altimeters has decreased drastically. The new course should enable everyone to set a sharp time in a beautiful new environment!

The starting shot will sound at the foot of the Belgian landmark par excellence: the Atomium. Next, the race goes past Brussels Expo towards the green Parc de Laeken. There’s a quick succession of highlights here with passages along the Monument of the Dynasty, the Royal Greenhouses and Castle of Laeken – the official royal residence (say hi to the King!).

Via Jette and the idyllic King Baudouin Park, the course takes you along wide avenues towards the famous Northern Quarter – the Brussels business district. Then, you will run along the Brussels maritime canal that is flat like a billiard table and takes you in a loop towards the hypermodern Docks shopping centre and along the Brussels marina. Fun fact: you invariably get a view of your fellow runners on the other side of the canal here!

Via the Van Praetlaan – save some energy for this climb – the Japanese Tower and a new passage along the Atomium, you run along the Avenue de Marathon (what’s in a name ?) towards the King Baudouin Stadium: home of the Red Devils, the Belgian national football (soccer) team!

The majestic finish is on the same athletics track where the Allianz Memorial Van Damme Diamond League Meeting took place a few weeks earlier. Under the approving applause of the supporters in the stands, you will get your well-deserved medal hung around your neck at this unique location. It is bound to give you goosebumps!
